blog post imagesIf you’re looking for ways to add some excitement – and readership – to your blog, try adding images. Believe it or not is can be that easy: research has shown that articles with images get 94% more views than those without.

People come to your blog to read informative, useful content and not look at photos (unless you’re a fashion blog). But, the images you choose for your blog posts can really help the overall readability of your posts. And it really only takes a few minutes to find a great image.

Here are some tips and tricks for adding images to your posts:

1) Use stock image sites like Fotolia, Shutterstock or iStock to find photos. These sites have great search capabilities so you can find what you’re looking for with ease. Keep in mind that you should purchase a photo vs. taking one off Google because you could run into copyright issues.

A free alternative is Wikimedia Commons. It may take some digging, but you’ll find a few gems there.

2) Once you’ve chosen an image, upload it to your post and add a focus keyword to the alt text. This gives your image – and post – the ability to be found in a search. For example, lets say your focus keyword is “internet marketing.” If the keyword is added as the alt text, your photo will appear in the images search results if someone searches for “internet marketing.” If they click on the photo, they’re brought to your post. Talk about a great way to get people to your blog!

3) Images are a differentiator when posting to social media channels. When you share the blog post, the images are automatically appended. Now, the chances of your followers sharing your posts become higher because your post looks entertaining, even compelling.

4) Lastly, adding images to your posts leaves an impression. Instead of decreasing traffic due to barren, text=only posts, your traffic could potentially rise because people will come back for more.

Although it can be tedious to find photos for your blog posts, you can always make it fun by adding images that you wouldn’t expect to see. Have fun and be creative! Feel free to contact Rocket X1 for more help with creating blog posts.
